Sporting Aims

We aim to provide opportunities for all pupils to both enjoy sport and develop a wide range of associated skills, which will enable them to actively participate in different sports.  Physical and health Education is a very important part of the curriculum, and pupils are given every encouragement and support. The school addresses the National Curriculum requirements for PE.  They undertake gymnastics, dance, games, athletics, swimming and outdoor adventurous activities.  There are a range of clubs both within the school day, and also at the end, including, soccer, running, and cricket.  One highlight of the school year is our annual sports day, where all pupils have the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities that promote both skills and enjoyment.  We make full use of the surroundings offered by Hailey Park.  The school also makes good use of the facilities provided in the community in cricket and soccer events.  We are fortunate to be located near to such high quality venues such as the Swalec Stadium, Cardiff City Football Club, and the Millennium Stadium.

Chess has benefitted greatly by the involvement of a Welsh international chess player and his wife.  A number of children are taught chess as a part of the curriculum.  A number of children have been successful at county level.
